Vice President for Enrollment and Dean of Admission
Nathan Ament joined Knox College in June 2023. A native of Illinois, Nathan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Augustana College (IL) and a Masters of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Prior to joining Knox, he served as Vice President of Enrollment Management at Loyola University New Orleans. At Knox, Nathan is responsible for the offices of admission and student financial services.

Vice President for Strategic Initiatives; Chief of Staff
Heather joined Knox College in July 2021. In her role, she assists in the conceptualization of strategic goals, manages major initiatives that support the strategic direction of the College, and contributes to the day-to-day operation of projects that directly advance the Knox mission. Most recently, Heather served as the chief of staff and presidential engagement liaison in the Office of College Advancement at Colby College. She has also held positions at Johns Hopkins University and Bates College. Heather received her B.A. from Bates College, and an MBA from Thomas College.
Provost and Dean of the Faculty
Melissa serves as chief academic officer, responsible for overseeing all academic affairs and operations of the College. Throughout her academic career, she has pursued excellence in teaching and research, while also developing an outstanding track record of leadership, innovation, and collaboration. She has a passion for liberal arts education and is dedicated to the academic enterprise.
A first-generation college student, Melissa received her bachelor of science degree in psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and her master’s and doctorate degrees in experimental psychology from Concordia University. She joined Knox College in July of 2025.

Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer
Alec Guroff joined Knox College in September 2022. Alec earned a B.A. in politics from Princeton University, an M.A. in Russian Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS and an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to joining Knox, he provided finance, accounting and consulting services to non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. area. Previously, Alec has served as an investment principal in a U.S.-based private equity firm operating in the former Soviet Union, president and CFO of an international non-profit organization working with major museums, and overseen business development efforts in the former Soviet Union. Currently, Alec is also treasurer and head of the finance committee at the Synetic Theater and a member of the finance committee at the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land.

Interim Vice President for Student Development
Jennie Hemingway brings more than 25 years of experience in higher education, holding positions across student development, advancement, constituent relations, and Title IX and compliance, and holds a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Illinois State University.
Jennie’s extensive experience serving and advocating for students and their success, as well as her knowledge and understanding of the Knox community and culture, make her a natural fit to take on this interim role leading our Division of Student Development.
Working to create environments that promote growth, support, and belonging that positively impact retention and graduation rates is a critical function and a passion for Jennie. She is looking forward to the opportunity to work with her dedicated colleagues on Senior Staff and in the Division of Student Development in this new role.
Vice President and Director of Athletics
Justin Newell joined Knox College in February 2025. In his role, Justin oversees all aspects of the Department of Athletics. Prior to Knox, Justin served as the Associate Director of Athletics at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio where he oversaw both internal and external efforts of the department. Newell earned his Master's of Education with a specialization in Sports Administration from Millersville University and a Bachelor of Science degree in General Agriculture with a concentration in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Delaware.

Vice President for Administration and General Counsel
Bradley Nolden joined Knox College in September 2022. Bradley earned a B.B.A. in finance from the University of Iowa and his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law. Prior to transitioning to this role, he practiced municipal law for a number of clients and served as the administrative services director for the City of Galesburg.

Vice President for Communications
Megan Scott has spent nearly her entire career supporting the goals and strategies of mission-driven organizations. Over the course of her career, she has served as a member of two senior administrations and worked closely with presidents, vice presidents, and boards to support and promote the transformative power of a liberal arts education. Scott has supported fundraising campaigns and academic initiatives, spearheaded two website redesigns, and oversaw the introduction of new athletics logos and mascots, among other initiatives, and has received several awards for her work. Scott graduated from Knox College magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and holds a certificate in publishing from the University of Denver Publishing Institute.
