At Knox, every student is empowered to govern their own behavior and monitor their own academic integrity—whether a first-year student or almost ready to graduate.

Having this privilege is central to each student's identity as a young academic and their intellectual life on campus. In fact, we haven't had a proctored test since the Honor Code was initiated in 1950 by Ismat Kittani '51, a student from Iraqi Kurdistan.

What do our students have to say about the Honor Code? It builds a shared sense of community, respect, and trust.
