Knox scholarships are designed to recognize your achievements, including special talents in writing, music, theatre, dance, and visual art. You can provide examples of your talents by submitting a portfolio and/or completing an audition.
Auditions and portfolios can be submitted for multiple areas in the arts.
You can schedule your on-campus audition or portfolio presentation in dance, music, theatre, or theatre design by contacting the Office of Admission at least a week in advance of your visit. You can also request your audition or portfolio presentation online when you schedule your campus visit. Auditions or portfolios are due by the same deadline as your application for admission (see knox.edu/apply for specific deadlines).
Auditions and portfolios in art, dance, music, theatre, theatre design, and writing can be submitted electronically though your online AppTracker, which will be available within 48 hours after submitting your application for admission. We'll send you an email with a link to create a password and access your AppTracker page. You can then upload your electronic submissions through the Portfolio section of your AppTracker.
Be sure to review the guidelines on how to prepare for your audition or present your portfolio prior to scheduling your visit or uploading your electronic submission. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of their auditions, portfolios, presentations, and/or manuscripts, as well as their academic records and any other evidence of special ability.
Auditions and portfolios are due by the same deadline as your application for admission (see knox.edu/apply for specific deadlines). Your application for is considered ready for review once all materials are submitted. If you've indicated that you are applying for an arts scholarship, your application for admission will be reviewed once your portfolio/audition is submitted. If you change your mind about submitting a portfolio/audition, please notify your admissions counselor to remove that item from your checklist.
Candidates are notified of their scholarship awards at the time of admission.
Scholarships are renewable annually as long as you remain in good academic standing. Your scholarships must be applied toward the cost of tuition, and the combination of Knox scholarships and grants and federal and state grants cannot exceed the cost of tuition. You may also qualify for additional need-based financial assistance, including grants, work-study, and loans.
