
Centenary Celebration
It's sad to say—but not too surprising—that we received no response to our last Flashback photo. But thanks to Special Collections & Archives, we were able to track down the story behind the photo!
The photo was one of many taken to publicize the Centenary Celebration events in 1937. Here is the caption that accompanied this publicity shot:

Under the elms at Old Siwash, students of Knox College rehearse the centenary pageant which will rededicate their alma mater to its second hundred years. Here Louise Herlocker (on modern bike) races Warren Green (on the high wheeler), testing whether he is qualified to participate in the pageant episode dealing with the gay nineties. The co-ed judges ae Jane Ella McConna (left, in 1890 costume) and Gladys Chinn.
