Casa Latina is a cultural center dedicated to promoting Spanish, Latino, Chicano, Mexican-American, and Latin American life and culture. First established in January 1994, it was given the status of a culture center in September 2001.
The Casa Latina Culture Center has two student organizations affiliated with the Center: Lo Nuestro, a student organization focusing on Latino cultural awareness, and MEChA, which promotes culture, history, higher education, and political consciousness within the Chicanx/Latinx community through student activism. Those living in Casa Latina work to promote greater communication and understanding of the Hispanic/Latino culture and world. It is an open, inviting place on campus for students who are interested in learning through shared experiences.
