Knox College alumni provided students with insights and advice about searching for jobs and pursuing careers at the 2017 Career Impact Summit. These eight tips are a sampling of what they had to say:
1. "Go get what you want. It is out there for you."—Regine Rousseau '94.
2. "I don't think [passion] is actually something that you should have as your starting point. I think that it's going to be a consequence of building a career that's solving what other needs you have."—Jacob Plummer '00.
3. "There is no ‘one plan fits all' to the job search."—Laura Pochodylo '14.
4. Take some risk early in your career; you may be surprised at the payoff. "Now is the time to have those adventures because you'll learn so much more."—Brian Beeman '04.
5. "The most important thing when it comes to networking is practice."—Ryan Cannady '99.
6. "One thing I would ask you to consider is not where you want to work, but what do you want to do [and] what do you want to accomplish."—Carmen Caraballo '14.
7. "Own your mistakes, be able to ask for help, and really be able to learn from what your mistakes are so you don't make them again."—Katie Weaver '05.
8. "There's more than one dream job out there, I promise. I've had several."—Karen Kinderman '07.
