Baylor taught French language and literature at Knox. Upon her retirement, Dean Hermann Muelder described her as "a careful and considerate counselor of students and a conscientious and cooperative faculty colleague."
Baylor received her bachelor's degree from Augustana College, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Iowa. At Knox, she taught introductory and advanced French language courses, and courses in Renaissance, 17th-century and 18th-century French literature. She also wrote the libretto for a light opera, By Gemini, composed by her husband, the late Murray Baylor, who taught music at Knox from 1942 to 1980.
She and her husband, who died in 1992, had three children, all of whom were graduated from Knox: Denis '61, Michael '64, and Stephen '65.
Private funeral services were held.
