Clarence Parks Elected Knox Trustee

Knox College has elected Chicago physician Dr. Clarence Parks '92 to the Board of Trustees. Dr. Parks is an internist and pediatrician with Lifetime Medical Associates and an instructor in pediatrics and internal medicine for Rush Medical College.

"Dr. Parks has made a career of serving the health needs of young people," notes Roger Taylor, Knox's president. "His perspective and experience will be a valuable addition to the Knox board."

Dr. Parks is a 1992 graduate of Knox and received his medical degree from Rush Medical College. He completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics through Wayne State University at Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan, where he received the internal medicine/pediatrics outstanding resident award and the chief resident award for leadership. His clinical interests include child development, adolescent health and palliative care.

After completing his residency, Dr. Parks practiced medicine at the Freeport Health Network in Freeport, Illinois. While in Freeport, he served as medical director and consultant for The Sojourn House for Chemical Dependency and Treatment, medical director for Freeport Health Network's Hospice and Home Health program, and medical director for New Visions Inpatient Medical Stabilization for Chemical Dependency. He also served as president of the Stephenson County Health Department.

Dr. Parks is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the National Medicine -- Pediatrics Association. He has been published in the Pocket Pediatrics guide and the Pediatric Acute Care Handbook.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 48 countries. Knox's 'Old Main' is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
