One of the most in-demand Commencement speakers has accepted Knox's invitation to deliver the address to graduating seniors. Former United States President Bill Clinton will deliver the Commencement address and receive an honorary degree at Knox at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2.
As is Knox tradition, Commencement is open to the public and will be held on the South Lawn of Old Main, rain or shine, barring serious threat of lightning. Due to the number of individuals planning to attend the event, only those who have already received Commencement tickets will be allowed to use the provided seating. Individuals without tickets are welcome to attend Commencement, but are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
In the event of hazardous weather, Commencement will be moved into T Fleming Fieldhouse. Only those with tickets will be admitted. Any change in location will be announced through the Knox website, www.knox.edu, and by local media.
On the morning of Commencement, South Street will be closed from Cherry to Cedar Streets. Parking lots throughout campus will be available for Commencement parking (PDF).
Also receiving honorary degrees at Commencement will be Douglas Wilson, co-director of the Lincoln Studies Center at Knox College and one of the nation's leading Lincoln scholars, and Janet McKinley, Board Chair of Oxfam America.
