From Dean Lawrence Breitborde
All of us have been following the news from the tragic events at Virginia Tech yesterday. As the story continues to develop, we can expect some in our community to have difficulty in responding to those events. The Office of Student Development is available to help students who may need some assistance through the Counseling Center. If you are experiencing such difficulties, please contact the Counseling Center. Please take time, too, to touch base your families, who also need reassurance that you are well and safe.
It isn't students alone who may have difficulty with these events. The Virginia Tech situation can breach the sense of community that Knox faculty and staff enjoy and challenge our individual sense of well-being. Please remember that the Employee Assistance Program is available to all Knox employees as a confidential support service; you can find out more information by contacting Human Resources.
As we struggle to comprehend these events, we should look out for our safety and well-being. This tragedy reminds us of the special nature of our campus community, and both the special benefits and challenges of our common endeavor. It should also remind us that taking care of each other is important to our own well being. Take care of yourselves and your colleagues.
