"Today's workout is a 45-minute run, and we'll be cleaning up Galesburg," announced Knox College cross country head coach Alex Moreno on the second day of fall 2013 preseason practice. "We won't be picking up any glass, and here's the hand cleaner for when you get back."

Moreno distributed trash bags, and runners set out in four groups, three headed into Galesburg and one focused on the Knox campus and adjoining neighborhood. The team came back with two-dozen bags of trash.
