Knox College Names New Trustees

Investor Hari Ramanan and Consultant Erica Jaffe Join Board of Trustees

Hari Ramanan of New York and Erica Jaffe of Chicago have been elected to the Knox College Board of Trustees.

Hari RamananHari Ramanan earned his bachelor's degree at Knox in economics and mathematics in 2000, graduating magna cum laude, with College Honors in mathematical finance. Currently with Eminence Capital LLC, New York, he co-manages the firm's European and emerging market investments. Prior to that, he was a managing director and portfolio manager at Basso Capital, a multi-strategy investment firm in Connecticut, where he focused on international equity and distressed debt investments. Ramanan began his career at Lehman Brothers Private Equity Division in New York. He subsequently worked for Advent International in London focused on European buyouts.

In 2008, he was selected for Knox's Business Advisory Council. As a student at Knox, he was active in Student Senate, International Club, varsity indoor track and intramural volleyball. He also received accolades in academics by earning the Proctor Fenn Sherwin Short Story Award, the Wall Street Journal Prize, and the Victoria Legner Junod Prize in Mathematics.

Erica JaffeErica Jaffe is a 2008 Knox College graduate and a consultant with Navigant Consulting, Chicago. She was elected to a four-year term as an alumni trustee and serves as the Young Alumna Trustee. She graduated summa cum laude, with majors in political science and economics, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board.

At Knox, Jaffe was a Kemper Scholar and served the College as an Admission Ambassador, a member of the Fitness & Athletics Initiatives Task Force and the Senior Challenge committee. She was president of Hillel Club, vice president of Student Senate and treasurer of Circle K. She was elected to Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society. Also active in theatre and Knox's radio station WVKC, she was selected Outstanding Senior by her peers and received the College's Faculty Scholarship Prize. She also was awarded the Burgess Prize in political science, the Vinton Johnson Prize in economics, and the Proctor Fenn Sherwin Prize in Freshman Writing. She is currently is a member of Chicago Kiwanis and a volunteer for Ladder Up Tax Assistance Program.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
