Among the highlights of Homecoming 2008 was the formal celebration of newly renovated academic and athletic facilities. At the dedication of the Knosher Bowl on November 1, below, current head football coach Andy Gibbons, along with former head coaches Randy Oberembt, Al Reilly and Joe Campanelli, acknowledge retired coach and athletic director Harley Knosher, prior to the game with Lake Forest. Below right, the officiating crew invited Knosher to conduct the coin-toss before the game. Head referee Jerry Courtney then presented Knosher with the coin, which was engraved "Knox-Lake Forest, November 1, 2008, Harley Knosher Bowl" in honor of the event.
A symposium on debates and presidential elections on Friday, October 31, featured a panel of Knox alumni, from left, Bob Jamieson, veteran broadcast journalist; Michael Lawrence, retired director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute; Norm Winick, newspaper editor and publisher; and Robert Seibert, professor of political science. Also on the panel, Douglas Wilson and Rodney Davis, co-directors of the Lincoln Studies Center at Knox College.
Below left, Robert King, director of major and planned giving, holds the end of the ribbon while Bob Borzello, Knox President Roger Taylor and Don Fike cut the ribbon at the dedication of Borzello Hall on Friday. Gifts from Borzello and Fike supported the purchase and renovation of the building, which is named in Borzello's honor. Also below, festivities included the student bonfire on Thursday night.
Above, Knox students Andromede Thiombiano, Celestina Agyekum, Ewurama Abaka-Sampson, and Uju Onyechi try their hands at a carnival-style basketball game in Memorial Gymnasium. Because Homecoming fell on Halloween this year, a party was organized for the campus, alumni and their children. "Just call us 'the Hill twins'," said Susan Hill, above right, a 1958 Knox graduate from Denver, Colorado, as she and her twin sister, Muriel Hill Cronin, of Tempe, Arizona, also a 1958 Knox graduate, display their new, matching Knox sweatshirts at the Homecoming Taste of Galesburg on Friday night in T. Fleming Fieldhouse.

Above, Knox alumni all: Athletic Director Chad Eisele; with Sam Malley and Lee Lutz, who spearheaded the fund drive for renovation of Turner Track in memory of long-time Knox coach Harold Turner; and Jan Koran, chair of the Board of Trustees, at the entrance to the track, as Turner's son, Dr. Kenneth A. Turner speaks at the dedication ceremony on October 31. The very next day, Knox alumni hold their annual 5K Homecoming Run on the newly dedicated track.
