International Fair 2011 Preview

Week of activities celebrates 30th anniversary of International Fair

The 30th annual Knox College International Fair highlights a week of internationally focused events, January 22-29 on the Knox campus. Knox draws students from 48 countries around the world, and the fair's annual festivities are coordinated by the International Club, one of the largest student organizations on campus.

This year, the international menu is coordinated by Sara Ahmed, a junior from the Philippines, and the entertainment is organized by Supriya Kasaju, a junior from Nepal.

A history of the fair prepared for its 25th anniversary in 2006 noted that growth of the annual festivities has paralleled the expansion of Knox's international dimension -- a student body hailing from 48 countries this year, compared to an average of 15 countries in the years preceding the fair. Knox has also increased international study options to 16 countries this year, up from from eleven countries in 1982, the first year for the fair.
