Klefstad Piano Recital, March 28

Works by Beethoven, Brahms

Pianist Kristian Klefstad will give a recital at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, in Kresge Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. The recital is free and open to the public.

Klefstad will perform two works by Beethoven, "Sonata in F Minor" and "Twelve Variations on a Theme by Haibel," and two by Brahms, "Scherzo" and "Six Piano Pieces."

Currently on the music faculty of Belmont University in Nashville, Klefstad has performed with the University of Texas Symphony, the Jefferson City Symphony, and the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra. He also has given lecture-demonstrations on the music of Chopin, Musorgsky, and Shostakovich. His arrangement of the Finale from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony was performed in 2005 with the CAC Chorale in Temple, Texas.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 46 states and 46 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
