Knox College Among Top 10 'Hidden Gems' in Higher Education

Knox College has once again been named as one of the "Top 10 Hidden Gems" in American higher education, according to ratings published by the Huffington Post.

The list describes Knox as a school where "the education supersedes the recognition," calling it a place with "thriving academics, (an) intellectual student body, and intimate class sizes."

Knox and nine other "hidden gems" appear on the Huffington Post's website as "The Best Colleges You Haven't Heard Of." In addition to Knox, the other schools are Bard College, Bates College, Colorado College, Denison University, Grinnell College, Mount Holyoke College, Sarah Lawrence College, Wabash College, and Whitman College.

Knox also was on the Top 10 list last year.

These schools were chosen for the Huffington Post ranking with the help of survey data from more than 30,000 students through Unigo.com.

Unigo's website features comments from current Knox students and Knox alumni. Comments about Knox from the site include:

• "Knox's small size makes it ideal for academics. I know nearly all of my professors pretty well. The classes are small so you get to know your fellow students," writes Levi, a sophomore. "There is a great line of communication between faculty and students. It is just a great environment to work in."

• Jamie, a Knox alumnus, writes the following: "Knox focuses on learning for its own sake, but also has job placement and viable marketing techniques to make sure regardless of your major you have numerous opportunities upon graduation."

• "Professors are extremely accessible. Professors want to help you, guide you, and challenge you to go above and beyond what is assigned," Jennifer, a senior majoring in international relations. "They are truly interested and passionate about what they are teaching and that is reflected in how their enthusiasm spreads to the student body."
