Knox College Choir 2011 Tour Concerts

Performances in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado

The Knox College Choir will preview its 2011 Spring Tour with a free, public Sendoff Concert, at 3 p.m., Sunday, February 27, in First Lutheran Church, Prairie and Waters Streets, Galesburg, Illinois.

Edward DavisDirected by Daniel McDavitt, the choir will premiere a student-written work, Requiem Aeternam, by Edward Davis. A senior music major, Davis is a member of the Knox College Choir, the Knox College Chamber Singers, and the Nova Singers.

The Choir also will perform "Native Land, Farewell," composed by the director, Daniel McDavitt, along with selections from the 1600s through contemporary works and two traditional American spirituals. The Knox College Chamber Singers will perform a capella works by Thomas Morley, Felix Mendelssohn and other composers, as well as an arrangement of a Beatles song, "Penny Lane."

The Choir's Tour will feature concerts in Liberty, Missouri; Iowa City, Iowa; Colorado Springs, Westminster and Boulder, Colorado; and the home tour concert on the Knox campus.
