Knox College Homecoming 2012

About 1,000 Knox College alumni returned to their alma mater on October 19-21 to celebrate Homecoming by re-connecting with old friends and attending a wide range of events, from football to fireworks.

At the President's Circle Reception on Friday night, Knox President Teresa Amott announced that the College has surpassed the $8 million mark in its fundraising drive to renovate historic Alumni Hall as a gateway to the vibrant life of the Knox campus and beyond.

At Homecoming Convocation Saturday morning, Amott announced that the football program received a million-dollar boost from the estate of one of the most steadfast supporters of Prairie Fire athletics, Vernon L.E. Stisser Jr. '62. In honor of his $1.6 million bequest, which will support the football program in perpetuity, the College has named the football field Stisser Field.

Also during Convocation, Knox Service Awards were presented to Lil Maria Castro-Rosabal '88, Tom Crabtree '72, and H. James Farver '61.

At halftime of the football game on Saturday afternoon, new inductees to The Knox-Lombard Athletic Hall of Fame were announced to campus, including the 1976 football team, Seth Kopf '04, Mark McIntosh '72, and 1901-1902 football coach John Frederick McLean.
