Strong academic performance is shown on several dimensions, with 43% of entering students graduating in the top 10% of their high school class. This year's entering class also features 160 students who have participated in significant volunteer community service; 128 varsity athletes and 54 team captains; 15 National Merit Commended Scholars and 5 National Merit Scholars.
The admission office surveyed incoming students about their academic interests -- the top five are English, psychology, biology, history and pre-medicine.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
