Knox Delivers Donations to Food Pantry

Employees gather campus donations to FISH of Galesburg

Boxes for food donationsKnox College is helping Galesburg's FISH food pantry meet an increased demand. College employees collected and delivered more than two-dozen boxes and bags of food to the FISH Food Pantry on Friday, November 6.

"A volunteer at FISH told us they serve between 1,300 and 1,500 people a month, and that need has doubled this year," said Rebecca Canfield, assistant in human resources. "In just a week, the Knox community donated enough to the Feeding FISH Food Frenzy to load a pick-up truck with boxes and bags filled with a variety of food."

Staff in the Facilities Services Office gathered donations that faculty, staff and students had placed in "Feed FISH Food Frenzy" boxes located across campus.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 47 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
