Knox College presents a free, week-long, youth academic camp focused on growing and preparing local foods.

"Farm to Fork" will be held in two sessions, July 8-12 and August 5-9. The camp is taught by Peter Schwartzman, associate professor and chair of environmental studies at Knox, and Matt Wallen, manager of Growing Together, an urban agriculture educational center in Galesburg.

The camp is open to students living in Knox County who will enter grades 6 through 10 this fall. The sessions will be held daily, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp will include a lunch on the Knox campus at no additional charge, prepared with locally grown or produced foods.

Each session is limited to 15 students. Admission is based on an application. Applications are available on-line at <www.knox.edu/farmtofork>.

Registrations for the July 8-12 session are due July 3. Registrations for the August 5-9 session are due by July 31.

The camp is funded by a Specialty Crops Grant from the Illinois Department of Agriculture to Knox County and the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Agency.

Additional information about the camp is available from Professor Schwartzman at 309-341-7142, or via e-mail to <pschwart@knox.edu>.
