Knox Ranked Among Forbes Top 100 Colleges

Knox College has again been ranked in the top 100 of colleges and universities by Forbes magazine in its annual listing "America's Best Colleges." Knox is ranked 75th out of 600 colleges and universities, selected by Forbes from among more than 6,000 post-secondary institutions. Knox has been on the Forbes list of "America's Best Colleges" since the magazine launched the list in 2008.

Forbes claims that its rankings are based on "factors that directly concern incoming students," including faculty and course evaluations, graduation rate, debt incurred by students, and professional success of each school's alumni. Student satisfaction, retention rates and alumni success were the biggest factors in developing the list. Forbes claims its rankings "pride themselves as being output-based," said the explanation of the Forbes methodology.

"We are pleased that Forbes looks at multiple dimensions of what makes Knox great -- the experiences of Knox students in class and working on research or creative projects, and students' success in their lives and careers after college," said Paul Steenis, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission.

"As with other rankings, only prospective students can determine which criteria are most important for them," Steenis added. "We encourage students to use this information with advice from counselors and their own experiences from campus visits, so they can determine which college is the best 'fit' for them and their goals."

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 48 countries. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
