Knox College Theatre Creates Carnival Theme for Twelfth Night

Knox College Theatre presents Shakespeare's romantic comedy "Twelfth Night" at 7:30 p.m., nightly from Wednesday, February 22 through Saturday, February 25, in Harbach Theatre, Ford Center for the Fine Arts.

Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for senior citizens and Knox College alumni; and free to all Knox students, faculty and staff. Tickets are available at the door one hour before each performance, or by making advance reservations at 309-341-7472.

The classic Shakespearian comedy, directed by Elizabeth Carlin-Metz, professor of theatre, features disguised and mistaken identities, romantic triangles, and mischievous pranks, combined with a poignant story of the pursuit of love. While Shakespeare set the play in Illyria, a region across the Adriatic Sea from eastern Italy, Carlin-Metz has located the Knox production in a festive Jazz-Age and carnival atmosphere of Italy in the 1920s.

Original music for the show was composed by Knox College senior Sam Brownson, who also is the play's musical director and leader of the stage musicians. All dances were choreographed by Knox College junior Kyla Tully.
