Mack Piano Recital

Ashlee Mack with guest artists Eric Ginsberg and Bruce Briney

The Knox College music department presents a chamber music recital by Ashlee Mack, piano, with guest artists Eric Ginsberg, clarinet, and Bruce Briney, trumpet, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, November 13 in Kresge Recital Hall, Ford Center for the Fine Arts, on the Knox campus in Galesburg, Illinois. The recital is free and open to the public.

The program will feature works by Gerald Finzi, Witold Lutoslawski, Gordon Jacob, Dana Wilson, Elliott Carter, and James Romig.

A piano instructor and staff accompanist at Knox College, Mack specializes in contemporary music. She has performed with organizations such as the Society for Chromatic Art, Vox Novus, and the Iowa Composers Forum. Mack has presented recitals throughout the United States, as well as in Germany and Italy.

Briney is professor of trumpet at Western Illinois University. He is a member of the Quad Cities Symphony and the Knox-Galesburg Symphony, and has performed with the Savannah Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois Philharmonic, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Spoleto Festival Brass Quintet. Briney also serves as the conductor of the Quincy Symphony.

Ginsberg is professor of clarinet at Western Illinois University. He is a member of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and has played with the Oklahoma Symphony, the Lincoln Symphony, and the Omaha Symphony. Ginsberg received degrees from the Juilliard School and teaches in the summer at the Brevard Music Center.

Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 48 states and 42 nations. Knox's 'Old Main' is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
