Maya Moody '91 Among Jurors at 2nd Blagojevich Trial

Knox College graduate Maya Moody '91 served on the federal jury that convicted former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich of corruption charges on June 27.

She and 11 other jurors deliberated for 10 days before deciding Blagojevich's fate. Ultimately, the jury found Blagojevich guilty on 17 counts and not guilty on one count. Jurors didn't reach a verdict on two additional counts.

After the trial ended, the Chicago Sun-Times profiled several of the individual jurors, including Moody, who majored in biology at Knox and now works as a professional photographer.

She told the Sun-Times: "For me, that first guilty was really hard...I stressed about it, because as soon as you get that first guilty verdict you know he's spending time and it's affecting his family and the rest of his life."

Moody isn't Knox College's only connection to the Blagojevich trial. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald -- who led the corruption case against Blagojevich -- delivered the 2009 Commencement Address at Knox. He also was awarded an honorary degree.
