NPR (formerly National Public Radio) recently featured the Knox Prairie Community Kitchen (KCPK), an organization that brings together volunteers from Knox College and the larger Galesburg-area community. Twice a month, KPCK organizes free dinners for anyone who wants to attend.
The story on KPCK is part of NPR's "Participation Nation" initiative, which is collecting written submissions from people all over the United States about "the good things Americans are doing," according to the NPR website. During the month of August, the NPR "Participation Nation" blog will spotlight a different community service project each day.
The KPCK item was published on August 15.
KPCK also was the subject of a radio story broadcast on Tri States Public Radio, based out of Macomb, Illinois, in February 2012. That story and audio are available here.
