Joyce Omondi '10, came to Knox because of the small class size and strong academic reputation. But she has found much more than that in the opportunities she has had to get involved in the life of the campus. "The lessons I've learned in the classroom, coupled with the opportunities to be a leader in my extracurricular activities ... is critical in starting to develop the skills I need for my career aspirations."

Omondi, who is majoring in economics and integrated international studies (IIS), is a resident advisor, president of Harambee Club, a student senator, a Knox ambassador, and vocalist in the Umoja Community Gospel Choir. "I've had plenty of opportunties to get involved."

She hopes to take the leadership skills she is learning back home to Kenya, with the goal of someday being a diplomat to the U.S. or United Nations. "My childhood dream is to become the first female Secretary General of the UN," says Omondi, "So, you'll see me on CNN one day."

Listen to Omondi talk about her Knox experience (6:20).
