Knox College - Sandburg Days Poetry Contest
Competition for students in grades 5-8; entries due April 16; prizes awarded April 26.
Entries are now being accepted for the annual Knox College Sandburg Days Poetry competition. The contest is open to all Knox County students in grades five through eight. Winners will read their works and receive cash prizes from Knox College and gifts from the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site at the award ceremony on April 26, during the Sandburg Days Festival.
Contest Details
- Divisions: Division 1 for students in grades five and six. Division 2 for students in grades seven and eight
- Prizes: $50 for First Place; $25 for Second Place in each Division; cash prizes provided by Knox College. All winners also receive gift baskets from the Carl Sandburg State Historic Site.
- Judges: Students and faculty in the Knox College English Department
- Deadline for Entries: April 16

- Award Ceremony: 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26 at the Sandburg Birthplace Historic Site, 331 E. Third St., Galesburg
