Knox College golfer David Marquardt, softball player Katie Dura, baseball player Paul Bennett and baseball coach Jami Isaacson have all garnered conference and national honors this spring. Baseball and men's golf teams both went to their respective NCAA Div. III national tournaments.
Golfer David Marquardt was named a PING Division III Second Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He finished 14th overall at the NCAA Division III national tournament, where the Knox team played through the first round. Marquardt is the fifth Knox men's golfer to earn All-American honors. Catcher Katie Dura is the first Knox softball player in school history to win the Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Year award. A catcher, Dura led the Prairie Fire in most offensive categories. Two other Knox softball players were named to the All-Midwest Conference Second Team. Full story
Baseball player Paul Bennett was named Midwest Conference South Division Player of the Year, selected for the ESPN Magazine Academic All-District Baseball Team, and picked for the Academic All-American District V First Team. Bennett led the team in several offensive categories, including batting average (.385), home runs, RBIs and slugging percentage. The Prairie Fire had six players named to the all-conference team. Baseball head coach Jami Isaacson was named the MWC South Division Coach of the Year. He coached Knox to the 2008 Midwest Conference Baseball Championship, and then to the NCAA national tournament. This marks the third time Isaacson has earned MWC coach of the year honors. Full story
