Mary Lou Villanueva, from Chicago, Illinois and Jean-Igor Michaux, an international student from France, have been named as recipients of the 2007-2008 Stellyes International Internship at Knox College.
Villanueva, a 2005 graduate of Francis W. Parker School in Chicago, is the daughter of Soledad and Abel Villanueva of Chicago. She is a junior majoring in political science. She was also named a McNair Scholar in 2003.
Michaux, a 2005 graduate of Lycee Sainte Marie School in Antony Cedix, France, is the son of Martine Dujol and Philippe Michaux of France.
The Stellyes International Internship is for students in Knox?s Besancon or Barcelona program who seek to enrich their understanding of the life, culture and enterprises of Spain, France, and Europe. Established in 1994, the internship is sponsored by the Eleanor W. Stellyes Fund.
?The Stellyes International Internship is an exceptional opportunity that Knox offers to its students who participate on the overseas programs. It is a perfect example of how Knox integrates academic work with experiential learning. The Stellyes Fellows are particularly well prepared to pursue organizations after graduation ? not just locally, but also nationally and globally,? said Steven Bailey, Associate Dean of Knox College.
