Nathan Engstrom, coordinator of the Office of Sustainability at Oberlin College, will give a talk, "Sustainability: The Ultimate Liberal Art," at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 20, in the Alumni Room, Old Main at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois. The talk is free and open to the public.
Engstrom has headed Oberlin's Office of Sustainability since February. Previously he was program director for Green Built Home, a project developed by the Wisconsin Environmental Initiative to promote sustainable home building designs. He co-founded GreenStar Homes, a residential construction firm that focused on sustainable building techniques, and co-authored ?The Social Construction of Green Building Codes: Competing Models by Industry, Government, and NGOs,? a chapter in the book "Sustainable Architectures."
The lecture is sponsored by the Office of the President of the College.
Founded in 1837, Knox is a national liberal arts college in Galesburg, Illinois, with students from 45 states and 44 nations. Knox's "Old Main" is a National Historic Landmark and the only building remaining from the 1858 Lincoln-Douglas debates.
