Winter Term Convocation: King Day 2020

Burkhardt Distinguished Associate Professor of History Konrad Hamilton speaks of the importance of voting at winter convocation at Knox College.

Members of the Knox College community and campus visitors celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Winter Term Convocation, which featured speeches, songs performed by the Knox College Choir, and poems presented by students Brianna Perry '20 and Julian Wicks '19.

In a keynote address titled "MLK for 2020!", Burkhardt Distinguished Associate Professor of History Konrad Hamilton spoke of the importance of voting. If King were alive during this election year, Hamilton said, his message would be simple: "Elections matter. It matters who the president is. It matters who's in Congress."

The Knox College Choir, led by Professor of Music Laura Lane, performed "Woke Up This Morning."

Julian Wicks '19 read two poems, including "Dinosaurs in the Hood," by Danez Smith.

Brianna Perry '20 read three poems, including "Boss Soul" by Sarah Webster Fabio.
