The Prairie Fire women's soccer team made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament earlier this month.
After defeating Grinnell 1-0 to win the Midwest Conference Tournament, the Prairie Fire traveled to St. Louis on November 12, where they were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Washington University.
A few highlights of their soccer team's historic season include:
"The team has learned how to grind out victories and find ways to win games that last season might have ended in a defeat," said Head Coach Paul Lawrence of the 2016 team, which returned 27 of last year's 30-member squad.
"They have grown up this 2016 season in my eyes, a more mature team that has leadership and a competitive culture that demands commitment."
