The Prairie Fire women's soccer team earned a spot in this year's NCAA Tournament by winning the Midwest Conference Tournament, defeating Monmouth College in the championship match.
Knox traveled to Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, for the tournament, where they fell to Wheaton College (Ill.) in the opening round 2-0 to end their 2017 season with a final record of 14-6-2.
This marks the second consecutive year the Prairie Fire women's soccer team earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament after winning the MWC Tournament Championship. They also won their second straight MWC regular season championship this year.
The Prairie Fire are 33-7-3 over the last two years, including an undefeated 16-0-2 record in MWC play. They are currently on a 19-game unbeaten streak in league play dating back to a 6-0 win over Cornell on October 31, 2015. Knox also has 30 shutouts over the last two seasons.
The 2017 squad tied its own MWC record of conceding only one goal in conference play while outscoring their opponents 49-13 on the year.
