Whether you’re a presenter, attendee, or faculty moderator, see below for what to expect on the day of the event!

What to Expect at the Event

HORIZONS 2025 has three components: an opening reception, the poster session, and oral presentation concurrent sessions. 

  • Opening Reception: 4:00-4:45 in Alumni Hall. Enjoy appetizers, drinks, and a few speakers to kick off the evening.
  • Poster Session: 5:00-6:00pm in CFA lobby. Stop by and view the posters, ask the presenters questions, and enjoy!
  • Oral Presentation Sessions 1&II from 6:15-8:30pm across Alumni Hall, as well as many buildings across campus. Use the program to see which presentations will be offered, at what times, and in what room (the program will be posted a few days before the event).

For Presenters: Arrival Time

  • Poster presenters should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled poster presentation time in CFA lobby to find their poster and get in place. Plan to stay beside your poster for the duration of the event. 
  • Oral presenters should check in at their assigned room 15 minutes before their session begins (Session 1 or 2). For example, if you are presenting at 6:30pm (in Session 1), you should arrive to your room 15 minutes before the start of Session 1 at 6:15pm.

All presenters are encouraged to check out other students’ presentations and posters after their session ends.

What to Wear

Student presenters should dress in business casual attire. If you need assistance with that, the Knox College Career Closet is a great resource! For poster presenters, please also wear comfortable shoes, as you will be standing for an hour at your poster.
