How did Knox help prepare you for graduate school?
I had a great mentor, Professor Gregory Gilbert. I was also involved in the McNair (Scholars) Program and that really helped introduce me to the research method and style expected in grad school. I was also able to complete extensive research and travel and present my research at Berkeley. That was a wonderful opportunity, and I think it put me a step ahead in navigating the graduate field.
What was your most memorable class?
Gilbert's art history course that examined Proto-Renaissance to modern day works. He took the class up to Chicago to visit the Art Institute. The visit was a surreal experience for me. I toured galleries displaying masters like Monet, Durer, and Van Gogh, making the material we covered in class so much more meaningful.
What's the most important thing you learned at Knox outside of the classroom?
Knox is full of the most compassionate people you will ever meet. It doesn't matter if they know you or not. If you're having trouble with something, they will go out of their way to help you out.
