Friday, September 5th: Welcome to Knox!

Buses arriving approximately at:

6:00 p.m.
11:00 p.m.

*Buses received at Alumni Hall. RAs and Orientation Leaders will assist students with connecting to wifi and bringing luggage to their rooms. Welcome packets in rooms. Dinner available for pickup at CFA with keys (dietary restrictions will be noted).

The mailroom will be open for students to collect mail or packages.

11:00 am - 12:20 pm
Campus Tour: starts outside of Alumni Hall and ends outside of Seymour Union.

Study Abroad Reflection and Culture Shock: Participate in a Q&A session to ask Orientation Leaders any questions about their Knox experience. Write a letter to your future self about your goals and dreams for your study abroad experience.

F-1 Visa Regulations
Learn about the benefits of F-1 status and how to comply with F-1 regulations from Clarissa Kampe, Assistant Director of International Student Services. Not required for U.S. citizens or visas other than F-1.

Academic Culture in the U.S.: Learn about U.S. Academic Culture from Dr. Ole J. Forsberg, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.

Health & Wellness: Learn about Health and Wellness and Counseling Resources at Knox and what to do if you are sick or need emotional/mental support. Ensure your immunization and health records are complete and up-to-date.

Resource Fair
Bring your passport and I-20 (F-1 students), as well as your phone, charger, and a credit/debit card or cash for immunizations and to set up prepaid services with Lyca Mobile or Mint Mobile.

  • Station 1: Basement Level (1st Floor)  Student Financial Services, Leigh Brinson
  • Station 2: Basement Level (1st Floor) Alum - 115  F&M bank representatives to open a bank account.
  • Station 3: Founder’s Lab, Seymour Union  Wireless: Meet representatives from Cricket Wireless (activation fee waived) to get a SIM card in your phone or purchase a new phone. *Cash and credit/debit accepted.
  • Station 4: 3rd Floor: Trustee's Room  Health and Wellness: Bring Immunization records; $23 per immunization (vaccine is paid to health department by cash or credit card). TB testing will be available for students. TB Skin test is $10.00 and blood test is $86.52 (both billed to student account). 
  • Station 5: Dining Services, Seymour Union  ID Card

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

After students are done at the resource fair, they will meet at Taylor Lounge to discuss the Walmart trip.

Walmart Run: Orientation Leaders and International Ambassadors will help direct students throughout Walmart.
