• How to Sign up for Handshake. For alumni who had access to a free student account while attending Knox, we can make an adjustment to your existing account so you don’t have to start all over. Reach out to careers@knox.edu or (309) 341-7494 for further assistance.

Assistance with Resumes, Cover Letters, Job Search Strategies, etc.

• We can assist you by phone, email, or virtual meeting for any assistance you may need. Please look over our samples via our Resources tab in Handshake, under ‘Career Center’

How You Can Get Involved In Our Initiatives

Hire The Fire: Recruit Knox Student and Alumni Talent

The Bastian Family Center for Career Success is ready to help you recruit for jobs, internships, etc. and is offering several options (all at no charge) to help you do that:

• Encourage your employer to post opportunities  to Knox through our Handshake system. Many employers already have a Handshake account. If your employer doesn’t have a Handshake account, please create your employer account and start posting job positions today. 
• Please send us any open positions you/your employer have that you would want to promote to the current students at careers@knox.edu. We will share the information to the student body specified to the major or area of interest. 
• Employer or Grad School Info Sessions can be set up upon requests. We market it, collect RSVP’s, and handle the logistics.
• Interested in hosting an event on campus? (In-person or Virtual) Please reach out at careers@knox.edu.

Be A Networking Resource For Students And Other Alumni

If you are interested in serving as a resource for Knox students and alumni please contact Levi Morgan, Associate Director of College Engagement within the Advancement Office, at lamorgan@knox.edu.

Donate Professional Clothing

Through our heavily-utilized Career Clothing Closet program, students can access clothing for interviews, networking events, presentations, LinkedIn Profile pictures, formal events, etc. Clothing is all donated by alumni and friends of the college. We need and accept: Suits, Jackets, Dress Pants, Dress Shirts/Blouses, Ties, Shoes, Dress Socks, Overcoats, Briefcases, Dresses, and Accessories a student may need to make a positive impression.

You can either drop donations at our office (Alumni Hall - Suite 222) or ship to: Bastian Family Center for Career Success, Knox College, 2 East South Street, K-Box 232, Galesburg, IL 61401-4999. If you ship, please include a note in your shipment with your name and full mailing address. 

More Resources 

All of the resources available to Knox students are also available to alumni. This includes consulting on topics such as self-assessment, career exploration, job search strategies, resume & cover letter construction, and interviewing & negotiation skills. As well, Knox alumni are welcome to stop by to make use of the Bastian Family Center for Career Success's library and computer resources when on campus.
