The good ol' days! Just under a year ago, in February 2011, the area was socked by a snowstorm. Staff labored mightily to clear campus, eliciting praise from students. Photograph by Peter Bailley.

Kristal Frisque, an employee of Blossoms in Galesburg, arranges lights on a Christmas tree in the George Washington Gale House. The historic site was one of the homes featured in the 2011 Holiday Housewalk on December 2, a fundraising event for the Galesburg Civic Art Center. Built in 1841 by the founder of Knox and Galesburg, the house was purchased by the College in 2006. Frisque is a 2002 Knox graduate who majored in studio art. Photograph by Peter Bailley.
Below, other details from the Gale House holiday decorations: left, a wall sconce with candle and concave mirror; at right, a fireplace mantle, featuring bookends cast from original sculptures of Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas by artist Faye Stevenson Smith, a Knox College graduate, physician and trustee.
